Maine Coon Cats are a unique breed and like other large breeds such as Ragdolls and Norweigen Forest Cats, Maine Coons need special foods. Because of their large jaws and teeth, they need larger sized dry food to make sure that their teeth are being properly cleaned as they eat. Small bits of food will not scrape the tartar and other build up off of their larger teeth. Also, like all cats they need protein. If you want to make your cat thin and unhealthy just feed them nothing but cheap dry cat food. NOT GOOD! Cats need animal meat to be healthy and strong. Unlike dogs, cats can only get their essential nutrients from the bodies of other animals. They cannot break it down from other sources like dogs can. If you can't afford special foods like the ones you are seeing in this vidcast, them at least look for canned foods that contain at least 18% protein. Your cat will thank you for it!
